New Heights Child Development Program, Program Director:    Roberta Martyniak

The New Heights Child Development Program is in Vesta’s Windham Heights Apartment Complex and is open to the public.  We provide care for children between the ages of 3 and 5.  Your child does not need to be potty trained to enroll and can start in September at the age of 2 if they turn 3 by January 1st.    The program is open from 7:30am- 5:30pm, Monday through Friday and currently has 32 School Readiness spaces and 16 Child Day Care spaces.  To qualify for the Child Day Care spaces a caregiver needs to be working or attending job training at least 20 hours per week.   Fees are based on a sliding scale which goes by annual income and number of people in the household. Our staff helps our families enroll in the Connecticut Care 4 Kids program if they are eligible.   We offer nutritious, free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.

The Early Care and Education Program provides services to 48 children,
ages 3-5 years old, and their families at New Heights Child Development
Program and Windham Heights Day Care.  We also serve 103 children and their families at our new childcare center on Valley Street. This program is also funded with a grant from School Readiness and OEC. The program serves children six weeks to 12 years old. Both programs accept Care 4 Kids. All programs serve breakfast lunch and snack for all enrolled children. We followed the CT ELDS and DOTS. Both programs are licensed by the state of Connecticut and NAEYC ‘s accredited. We collaborate with the UConn licensing program, Eastern’s graphic design department and jumpstart, Windham public schools and the town of Windham school readiness program.    We strongly encourage families to be involved in our program, and have strong parent involvement where we help families advocate for their children and themselves.  As a bilingual/multicultural program serving a diverse population, our staff is also diverse and bilingual.
